A member suggested the following ad and I gave him the following feedback (below) which may be useful in a wider context …
Headline: Sack your boss
Description Line 1: Legitimate non MLM online business
Description Line 2: Great company with great rewards
Display URL: www.blahblah.com.
Hi Bill, a couple of quick suggestions regarding your example ad. I know your ad was possibly only a “roughy” but still this might be helpful.
Here’s how I would modify it …
Sack Your Boss
Legitimate Non-MLM Online Business
Lucrative Company. High Commissions.
www.blahblah.com
And here’s why …
Words like “great” and “top” are quite meaningless in their generality. “Lucrative” and “High” are more specific, descriptive, impressive.
There’s an old saying in journalism on the topic of specificity in headlines.
Don’t say: “Dog attacks child”.
Do say: “German Shepherd Mauls Girl, 4″.
(More specific and emotive)
Lastly, try and place your keywords in the headline. So, if your keyword is “work from home”, then your headline would be (you guessed it) “Work From Home” thusly …
Work From Home.
Legitimate non-MLM Online Business
Lucrative Company. High Commissions.
www.blah.com/Work%20From%20Home
Why? You’ll get better scores and relevance from Google. Plus they’ll bold your keywords in the ad.
I have also found that the term “Recession-Proof” works really well in ads.
so …
Work From Home.
Legitimate non-MLM Online Business
Lucrative Company. Recession-Proof.
www.blah.com/Work%20From%20Home
cheers, Cameron.
